LEADERSHIP

Below, you will see the opportunities I've had and roles I've held within leadership positions in my career.

SENIOR TEAM LEAD, 9th GRADE DEPT

I currently serve as the Senior Team Lead over the 9th Grade Department at Northfield High School in Denver Public Schools. I am very proud of the work the 9th Grade Department has put into practice. Our goal this year was to ensure 90% of all freshman will be on track to graduate by the end of the year and we are getting closer to achieving that goal every day. Mid-year data currently shows our 9th graders significantly outperforming the district and the state. I facilitate and lead ongoing PLCs with the 9th grade team to close identified gaps around reading, writing, and math. I helped start the first-ever cohort of 9th Graders to establish a norm the rest of the school can model given its success, while being a contributing member of the Instructional Leadership team.

I lead bi-weekly data driven PDs with the 9th Grade Department centered around MTSS interventions, SLO’s, and schoolwide data to promote equity and increase student performance. I also work regularly with teachers on my caseload engaging in weekly observations and coaching learning cycles to support classroom management, instructional rigor, and student engagement based on our school’s goals and UIP. One of my favorite aspects of my job is coaching teachers and helping foster their growth.

SENIOR TEAM LEAD, ELECTIVES DEPT

I formally served as the Senior Team Lead over the Electives Department at Northfield High School in Denver Public Schools. I am a contributing member of the Instructional Leadership team and have co-developed Northfield’s Black Excellence Plan and Si Se Puede Plan that are focused on creating an intentional presence of our students of color’s lived experiences in our school, creating equitable lessons for our ELL students, and implementing CRT practices that acknowledge all of our students. I lead weekly data driven PDs with the Electives Department centered around SLO’s and schoolwide data to promote equity and increase student performance.

TEAM LEADER, RELATED ARTS

Working with other educators to bring out the best in our students has always been a passion of mine and is one of my driving reasons to become a school leader.  During my tenure in the Riverview Gardens School District I mentored and trained over a dozen highly qualified teachers.  I have served directly under the building principal on the leadership team and was the team leader for the related arts team.  I regularly implemented data driven meetings centered around student achievement.

PBIS SPECIALIST

In recent years, I have implemented systems with a team of educational professionals to cultivate a positive learning environment and an equitable, open school culture.  I served as a Positive Behavior Intervention Supports Specialist to work with staff and administration to develop and implement systems to drive student achievement.  The outcomes of these systems showed increased instructional time with our students by over 50%, discipline referrals and suspensions cut in half from previous years, and an improved morale amongst staff and community members based on survey data.

MASTER SCHEDULER

In my last 3 years at Lemasters Elementary, I developed the master academic schedule including the related arts and lunch/recess schedules for the school.  This past year, I've been part of the return to school committee working with schedulers to create a plan to bring back students safely to school during the covid pandemic.
